A spray booth applies a fine, even mist from multiple angles in under a minute, which makes it the faster and generally less expensive route to color. It works well for straightforward, all-over coverage, and it removes any variation between technicians since the machine runs the same pattern every time.
What it will not do is adjust for you specifically — a booth cannot see that your elbows need less product than your shins, and it cannot correct on the spot the way a person applying by hand can. For most people that is a non-issue. If you have specific areas of concern or uneven skin tone you want handled carefully, custom airbrush is worth the extra time.
